We shall be having a Pirate Day on the 20th January. Our study of the sea will continue in Science where we are learning about natural habitats.

In English, we will be retelling pirate stories and describing fictional pirates. In Art, we are studying artist Henry Rousseau and creating landscapes in his style.

The children will have PE lessons on Wednesday and Fridays so please make sure PE kits are in school on those days.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to the class teachers or Mr Oakley, please contact the office to make an appointment.
Year 2 Pirate Day
On Thursday, Year 2 had the Pirate Experience Day.

The children started with learning a pirate song and dance and these were then performed to the class. Afterwards, the children completed a Science Investigation on floating on sinking. Using plasticine, the children designed and constructed a small boat and attempted to make it float. There were many successes and failures, but the children enjoyed the challenge.

In the afternoon, the children completed a treasure hunt. Reading a section of pirate text, the children had to find and follow the clues that led them to a treasure chest, filled with a very special surprise!

After the treasure hunt, the children concluded the day with learning about treasure maps and making their own examples. As a special treat, the children then made pirate hats to top their day off.
