Welcome to Year 2
Welcome to our new school year. We are all very excited to have the children back with us and to resume our exciting learning.
The Year 2 team is:
- Mr Oakley Year Leader
- Mrs Bland with Miss Hutt Class 2B
- Miss McDonnell Class 2M
- Mrs Akram - Teaching Assistant 
- Mrs Parveen - Teaching Assistant
Our topic for this term is: 'Up, Up and Away!'. Our learning will be linked to flying and flight. In English, we shall be reading stories about flying and our writing will build on these texts. In Maths, we shall be exploring number and place value followed by addition and subtraction. Science, we shall be learning about everyday materials through lots of practical lessons.
The children will have PE lessons on Thursday and Fridays so please make sure PE kits are in school on those days.

This term the children will be expected to complete their Maths homework on Google Classroom, starting week beginning 13th September. The children have been taught how to access it. This needs to be completed and 'turned in' on a daily basis. Please see the information below for tips to use Google Classroom.
The children will continue to get paper copies of their spellings. Please remember to read with your child everyday and sign their journal. 
This term the children will be learning number and place value and this will lead in addition and subtraction. 
Please learn and practise the 2x, 5x and 10x times tables, and if you want an extra challenge, the 3x and 4x times tables. The children will also need to know the related division facts.

This half term our topic is, 'Up, Up and Away!' The children will be reading lots of stories about flying and flight. They will be retelling stories, writing recounts and descriptions.

This half term the children will be learning about everyday materials. They will learn about different materials and their uses.
We shall be doing lots of practical investigation lessons
Design and Technology
This half term we will be looking and making cushions to be used within our book corners.
