Welcome to Year 4

Welcome to Year 4. Our teaching team includes:

 Our PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure that your child has their correct PE kit in school and earrings are removed. 

 

 Homework is set daily and there is an agenda stuck into their Reading Journals. Reading must be completed daily. Your child will have two reading books, a library book of their choice and a book band book.

Maths: 
This half term we are learning about place value and addition and subtraction.  They will be learning how to read, write, round, add and subtract numbers up to 10,000.
We will also be starting Times Tables Fluency to prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC).
 
Useful websites:
This half term we will be writing a defeat the monster narrative with the purpose to entertain and writing instructions with the purpose to inform.
 
Please use Spelling Shed to support your child's learning of spelling rules and patterns. 

Reading:
In Master Readers we are writing the text 'Charlotte's Web'.  
 
Geography:
This half term we are exploring Rome and learning about its human and physical features.
 
Art:
In Art, we will be learning about Pablo Picasso. The children will then be creating self-portraits in the style of his work.

PE:

PE will be every Wednesday and Thursday. We shall be playing Football and developing Gymnastics skills.

Computing:
In computing, we will developing knowledge of how ICT is used to investigate the weather.
 
Music:
Our theme this half term is 'Samba and carnival sounds'.  The children will learn to clap in the off-beat as well as play percussion instruments in time with the music.
