Year 6 RAF Hendon

27th February 2026

On Friday, Year 6 travelled to RAF Hendon as part of our History and Writing topics.

We took part in an air-raid inspired workshop where we learnt about how communities protected themselves against air raids. Then we experienced what a real air raid would've been like when an alarm went off and we had to make our way to the shelter. After, we got to try on different RAF uniforms and learnt about different roles in the RAF.

We then spent the afternoon exploring the rest of the museum. We paid particular attention to the Battle of Britain exhibition and learnt a lot about how it was such a crucial turning point of the allied victory in WW2.

The children had a lovely day and we were impressed with their application of their knowledge
