Windsor Castle

24th March 2022

On Thursday 24th March, Year 2 had a very exciting visiting to Windsor Castle.

Travelling by coach, we were lucky enough to see the castle from a distance, with its famous round tower. The children and adults were excited and amazed by this view.

Upon our arrival, we all headed to St. George's Chapel to watch the famous 'Changing of the Guard'. The guards marched in, along with the marching band, and we watched as they were inspected and practised their drills. We then were treated to some music performance from the band.

During the afternoon, we explored the castle and all the State Apartments. We looked at all the magnificent furniture, swords, armour and paintings. The children even spotted a painting of Elizabeth I and her father, Henry VIII.

Afterwards, we explored St. George's Chapel, where Prince Harry and Megan Markle were married. We saw the resting places of Henry VIII and The Queen's Mother. We also looked at the magnificent stained-glass windows and carvings.

It was a wonderful day with lots of walking and exploring. The children were a delight to take and had a fantastic time.
